Besides the delivery of ‘EU Manufactured’ products, companies within the industry can also buy repaired and revised electronic products at Alex’ company. PartTracker is Depot4 registered member of the first hour. We have asked Alex about his experience.
You participate with your company as a Partner in Depot4 We are now a ½ year and are looking forward to your first findings. The Netherlands and the E.U.have to become more sustainable and act circular. How is your organization actively involved?
”The reason why I started with PartTracker has everything to do with ambition to reduce waste streams from technical products. Our vision fits into the new emerging Circular Economy. We do not think it is time that new and used parts, which are technically still perfectly usable, are unused and lying on a shelf covered in dust to eventually be destroyed. What is produced is intended to be used!’
What Do you think in making progress, when it comes to sustainability?
”I believe that a lot must be done both nationally and internationally, and politics has an important role in this. But that really has a chance of success when there is support from the ‘ work floor ‘. I believe, therefore, that we should be aware that it is not needless to say that there is a plethora of things, because many raw materials are scarce, or will become scarce and that can be traced in the price of a product. You also notice that companies, in which durability and sustainability is included in the corporate culture, have an impact on the behavior of employees. This is translated into an ordered work environment and minimal wastage on materials, energy and raw materials ‘ ‘.
What has been the main reason for you to participate in DEPOT4?
“We have constructed our earning model around our vision and mission. We would like to contribute to a Circular Economy. In addition, we have inventories with which we can help companies within the industry and electronics These are usually products that you can not buy on every street corner anymore. We are Also regularly looking for specific technical products for customers, DEPOT4 is a valuable resource for us, where I have been able to buy a lot of products for our clients.”
Do you have offered any products on Depot4?
”We regularly place new offers on DEPOT4. This is easy and fast with the Excel Template. We also sold all the necessary via DEPOT4. Because of the transparency, the agreements are often established outside the platform. In itself not bad, but I can imagine that DEPOT4 wants deals to be settled through the platform “.
Do your employees also have access to DEPOT4?
”Of Course, as said, we ‘Source’ a lot for international customers. These are usually products that are no longer produced or special parties. With DEPOT4 We have a single view of what is on the shelf at the participating companies. Here we like to make use of “.
What additions or changes would you like to see within the functionality of DEPOT4?
“I find that it is the strength that participating companies are mentioned with name and details, and DEPOT4 is linked to the 2BA dictionary. I Also regularly make use of the possibility to place a ‘request’ on DEPOT4. With This I have been able to help a customer a number of times. If I would like to see an addition, it is the possibility to retrieve product data from more sources than just the 2BA. Especially ‘older’ components we are missing now, we have to add them manually.
Do you finally have a message or tip for the users of DEPOT4?
“Make sure your employees have access to DEPOT4, so that we use as many unused materials and components as possible together. The traditional chain focuses on the propel of as many products as possible, resulting in enormous supplies in the chain. This is no longer desirable, especially with the rapid technological developments and short life cycles of products.
